Arithmetickles is a one-of-a-kind, interactive, math show that clearly involves students in the learning process. Many youngsters have difficulty identifying the connection between classroom instruction and their lives. This causes them to view math as a boring and even useless necessity. But Arithmetickles shatters this notion with its fun filled examples of how to employ textbook theories in everyday situations.
Through a skillful blending of audience participation, comedy, mime and theatrical effects, the fast-paced games and skits in Arithmetickles capture the attention of children in grades K-8. Age appropriate material is set in a “kid-friendly” format of games, puzzles, scenarios and storytelling, affording students a chance to explore and resolve math problems creatively. By encouraging students to apply their own approach to math, Arithmetickles also helps increase overall confidence and self-esteem.
Original, thought provoking and always spontaneous, Arithmetickles is designed to help students realize that math is nothing to be afraid of and that learning math can be fun!
Arithmetickles for grades K-3 examines basic math concepts such as Adding, Subtracting, Counting and Shapes through a variety of creative games and activities (Preview the Show). Games include identifying odd and even numbers, shape recognition, number relationships, telling time, lots of memory activities and much, much more. Also, visit Classroom Fun for amazing before and after show activities with your students.
Arithmetickles for grades 4-6: Students in grades 4-6 are offered fast paced math activities that include Multiplication, Division, Fractions and Creative Problem-Solving (Preview the Show)! As with all Arithmetickles programs, the emphasis is on active participation and student volunteers are encouraged to use their knowledge of math to solve funny math problems. And don’t forget to visit Classroom Fun to see all the interesting before and after show activities that you can do with your students.
Arithmetickles for Middle Schools: Middle School students (grades 6-8) take par in highly imaginative comedy skits dealing with logic, deductive reasoning and grade-related math games. Puzzles, skits and Math Magic combine to stimulate the natural curiosity of this grade level and get students thinking about other ways in which math affects their lives. Activities include “Island Survivor” in which the entire audience must find the logical (and mathematical!) way to save people crossing a bridge in a hurricane before the bridge collapses (based on time, speed and distance) and “Vacation Investigation” in which student volunteers become one person who has to remember all answers and use logic, percentages, and simple formulas to solve the vacation mystery. Other activities include “Arithmetickles Tac Toe” that incorporates algebra and geometry and “Nine Days in One Second” that uses math magic.
