Arithmetickles Math Night

With an ever-increasing emphasis on math skills in today’s world, schools around the country are searching for new ways of promoting parental involvement in the learning process. The current belief is that the involvement of parents is still essential for student success. Arithmetickles Math Nights are an extremely effective way of making math more accessible to both parents and students.

Arithmetickles Math Nights can be tailored to the needs of your school. They can be as simple as bringing an Arithmetickles Math Night show designed for a single grade (such as involving all 5th graders and 5th grade parents), the entire student body together with their parents, or even as a total community event. These shows make wonderful fundraisers. The show host will ask for groups of student volunteers to join him on stage where they will take part in hilarious theatre games involving creative math. For some of the segments, parents will be asked to join the children on stage and together, parents and students will share the learning process by using their creativity to answer funny math related questions.

THREE TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL ARITHMETICKLES MATH NIGHTS (or how to get moms and dads into the school in the evening):

1. Have a pizza night! You can sell pizza as a fundraiser and have the show at dinner time!
2. Make Math Booths! Each class can design a math booth with one math-related activity (such as creating a picture based on shapes, a maze, guessing numbers of M&Ms in a jar, etc.) Mom and Dad will love to see their youngsters’ creations and meet the math teacher!
3. Extra credit for math class when your parent attends with you! Who can resist this one?
