School Assembly Programs SPECIFICALLY GEARED TO 5-8 GRADERS!!
(Jerry Jacoby also offers character & integrity programs for elementary students. See our listing under MOTIVATION.)

JERRY JACOBY: KID MOTIVATOR WILL CONNECT WITH YOUR STUDENTS!! "I love Junior High/Middle School kids! They're full of energy and ready to follow just about anyone who's willing to lead. They wear their emotions on their sleeves and sometimes run the gamut from depression to exhilaration all in one day. So for me, there is no group of human being I more enjoy addressing.
But I also remember that BEING thirteen or fourteen was traumatic for me. I was insecure, 'uncool', clumsy and in love all at once and would gladly do almost ANYTHING to relieve this tension. And so I made many daily decisions, some good--some not so good. I survived those years thanks to the wisdom of some solid adults in my life back then. While their wisdom may have been 'more caught than taught', it still kept me from making some disastrously wrong turns. These school assemblies are my way of sharing the wisdom of my mentors with today's middle/junior high students."

Between every outburst of laughter is a lesson never to be forgotten.

JUNIOR HIGH: THE BEST TEN YEARS OF MY LIFE
They'll listen, they'll laugh, they'll grow! Jerry Jacoby starts with a verbal sketch of the kids in his ninth grade Biology class, then relives an arm wrestling match with a defensive tackle, and takes your students on a roller coaster ride at Edgewater Park. In other words, your kids relate. The real-life relationships and happenings Jerry Jacoby retells are timeless, so your students will readily catch the powerful message. What's the message?
*My need to be accepted by my peers is normal and universal.
*I am unique.
*I, therefore, don't have to make decisions based on my need to prove my worth.
*I am free to make healthy, intelligent decisions.

The vehicle is comedy and audience involvement.

HOT DOGS ON A NERVOUS STOMACH (Anti-Bullying)
This school assembly has helped many middle/junior high schools help reinforce their ANTI-BULLYING efforts.
Granted, too many hot dogs on a nervous stomach can be a problem, but more importantly, Jerry Jacoby is candid with your students as to WHY he was 'nervous'. Your kids connect with the true-life story not only because it's funny, but because they've all experienced similar feelings of inadequacy. Traveling with him through his teenage years, the audience first hears how hard he tried to remedy his obvious inferiority and finally how he learned some great news: "You don't have to be perfect to be perfectly OK." Whew! The format for the show is comedy and lots of audience involvement.

QUOTES FROM ENTHUSIASTIC CUSTOMERS:
"I have never seen a performance for our 8th graders that captured their interest like this one did." Josh Reitz, principal, McHenry Middle School, McHenry, IL

"Awesome as Always! I have been watching Jerry's presentation every year for nine years now. I still laugh through the whole thing. I love it. His energiziing attitude makes me re-evaluate my own teaching efforts." Jina Ward, teacher, Wilmington Middle School, Wilmington, IL

"You had everyone, including the teachers, waiting to see what you would do next! Your message was definitely received by our students! They really enjoyed the fact that you had their peers interact with you and the band thing they could relate to. It all tied into what we do in the middle school with our students regarding respect, responsibility, integrity, character. It also goes along with a theme we do thorughout the year with our 7th grade students regarding tolerance and acceptance." Michele Gehring, teacher, Sheffield Middle School, Sheffield, OH

"The kids really enjoyed him and my son could even repeat some of the key phrases from the show." Molly DeGroote, parent, Prairie Hill Middle School, Cary, IL

"What I liked about your performance is that you're hilarious." Tyler

"You go in bored expecting another dull assembly as usual and you come out laughing hyterically. The guy is funny and actually makes you want to hear more! I think he is a comic genius trying to help out Junior High kids by making them look at peer pressure from another very funny perspective." Connor

"That was pure comedy! I enjoyed your stories and your great sense of humor. Heck, I be the entire school did!" Travis

"What I liked about your message was that you used a situation that happens very often in middle school, so I think it drew more people's attention." Dina

"The girl that you picked to be your backup siinger is still singing 'Ooh, ooh, do the right thing.' It's a little annoying but it's true. Do the right thing in life." Samantha

"And thanks to your wife, Michaella, for all her help making this possible." Mary Foland, parent, Duker Elementary School, McHenry, IL
